May Community Update

31 May 2024

Two new projects have opened on The Loop this week. Keep reading to learn about a potential new space for Werribee Library and our plan to improve traffic around the Wattle Avenue neighbourhood in Werribee.

Werribee Library relocation

Werribee Library has outgrown its current home in the Wyndham Cultural Centre where it has been since 2001.

We're seeking community feedback on potentially relocating the Werribee Library to level 7 of 22 Synnot Street Werribee, which is better recognised as the Werribee Holiday Inn.

The new space is a lot bigger, has ample parking, is easy to access and will have plenty of multi-use community rooms in different sizes.

Wattle Avenue safety and amenity improvements

Since the Cherry Street Level Crossing was removed and the Tarneit Road extension was built, local roads in the Wattle Avenue area had had an increase in daily traffic.

To help combat this, we’re proposing to introduce a range of traffic calming measures that will shift drivers from these local roads back onto Duncan's Road and Princes Highway which as arterial roads are meant to take higher volumes of through traffic.

Fourteen different traffic calming measures are proposed to be introduced throughout the Wattle Avenue area. These include speed humps, road narrowing, one and two lane slow points, a wombat crossing, changes to intersections and central islands.
