Engagement Overview

How we've included your feedback!

Thank you for sharing your feedback on the proposed Woodville Park Upgrade. We appreciate your input and can let you know that we are addressing the key points you raised.

25% of respondents requested a Changing Places Toilet be included in the park. Changing Places toilets are a much larger accessible toilet cubicle that include a hoist and adult sized adjustable change table. The accessibility of the Woodville Park Play Space is being improved via the upgrade. However, it is not a designated All Abilities Play Space, and the location does not meet the criteria set out in the Wyndham Open Space Public Toilet Policy. A Changing Places toilet is not proposed in the Park.

There was strong support (over 80%) for a public toilet in the park. A facility comprising two (2) gender neutral toilets, including one (1) All Abilities cubicle is being planned as per the Wyndham Open Space Public Toilet Policy. The delivery of the public toilet is subject to Council funding.

To ensure Woodville Park is a welcoming and inclusive space for everyone to enjoy, the proposed upgrade includes play equipment requested by the community, including Wyndham’s first We-Go Swing (unfenced wheelchair accessible swing), an accessible trampoline, and a rock-climbing panel as part of the play unit. Monkey bars and ladders are also being considered as part of the final design, subject to safety requirements and budget considerations.

The addition of a second ramp to the top of the play unit was investigated and is not possible to space limitations and fall zone requirements.

To help keep Woodville Park clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone, the proposed public toilets are positioned to support passive surveillance in line with Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles. The facilities will be fitted with automatic locking doors, which will secure the toilets from dusk until dawn. Motion-sensor lighting will be installed on the exterior of the toilet blocks, along with solar lighting along the main path connecting Woodville Park to the Woodville Park Shopping Centre.

Woodville Park Upgrade

We're upgrading Woodville Park as part of Wyndham's Play Space Strategy and as an action from the Woodville Place Plan being endorsed. We want to create a space that's welcoming, fun, and perfect for longer visits with family and friends.

The objective for Woodville Park is to create a place for all to enjoy by providing more amenities such as public toilets, sheltered BBQ area, seating, lighting and drinking fountain, plus a upgraded play space with new all-inclusive play equipment.
