"A place for people"

We have some exciting news, Wyndham City will be retrofitting Central Park Community Centre and revitalising the adjacent reserve with a seniors' exercise park.

Central Park will be a "place for people" and we're working towards:

  • improving the welcoming nature of the community centre
  • having new community services that meet our growing community needs
  • increasing the interaction between indoor and outdoor spaces
  • co-locating seniors' exercise facilities with children's areas so grandparents can exercise while supervising their grandkids.

A staged redevelopment

The project will be in stages, with the Seniors' Exercise Park opening first in June, then moving onto the further reserve area and lastly the Community Centre building.

Council will be retrofitting part of the Community Centre.

A first for Wyndham (and most of Australia!)

The new Seniors' Exercise Park is being installed in partnership with Wyndham City Council, National Ageing Research Institute (NARI) and Gandel Philanthropy.

Wyndham are very lucky to have such a facility as only a handful have been built in the whole of Australia!

Over three years, research participants will access the exercise park and be monitored by Victoria University. Findings from a past study have shown that participants improved muscle strength, balance, and physical function.

The seniors' exercise park will also be available for public use outside of programmed hours.

You can find out more about the study here.
