The Draft Wyndham Housing and Neighbourhood Character Strategy 2023

The Draft Wyndham Housing and Neighbourhood Character Strategy 2023 (The Draft Strategy) provides a 15 year plan to manage housing growth and change across the municipality to ensure that new homes are well-located and enhance the character of Wyndham's unique neighbourhoods.

The Draft Strategy identifies three broad categories of housing change, which each play a different role in accommodating future housing growth and diversity. These are known as Limited, Incremental, and Substantial change areas. It also identifies neighbourhood character precincts that will guide new development in a way that responds to the preferred character of an area.

The Tarneit and Sayers Road precinct has consistently been designated Limited Change and this has been applied to the area in both the 2015 and 2018 versions of the Wyndham Housing and Neighbourhood Character Strategy and the current 2023 Draft Strategy.

Council will be conducting landowner/resident engagement to help them consider which future zones and planning rules to recommend for your area, informed by your feedback.
