Overview

The Department of Transport have listened to community and Council feedback about increased traffic in the local area along the Princes Highway and the surrounding roads.

A review of traffic movement in the area has been undertaken using enhanced traffic management capability through the Smarter Roads program. To reduce traffic on Wattle Avenue and Tower Road, the State Government is reviewing and adjusting traffic light sequences at the intersection of Tarneit Road and Princes Highway.

In September, the Department of Transport’s Smarter Roads engineers are reviewing and adjusting traffic light sequences at the intersection. The trial will be monitored continuously using the newly installed Smarter Roads traffic cameras to identify patterns and movements.

This project complements the engagement Council delivered last year around issues in the Wattle Avenue neighbourhood which included a Local Traffic Management Study in the area. You can read more about the study here.

The State Government is seeking community feedback on the intersection and surrounding roads as well as ideas for improvements to traffic management in the area.

This feedback will help Council work with the State Government to develop a long-term traffic management plan for this area, considering improvements to arterial and local road networks.

Consultation closed on Monday 31 October 2022.
