How we've included your feedback!

In response to community feedback, several updates have been made to the final concept plan.
  • Barbecue's

The barbecue's have been relocated to be under the picnic shelters.

  • Signage

New heritage and environmental interpretative signage will be included.

  • Public Toilet

The Public Toilet has been reorientated to face away from the car park, with additional landscaping incorporated around it to minimise visual impacts on nearby properties.

  • Plough

A new safety and risk assessment is being undertaken to determine how the Plough can be safely retained in the upgraded Park. Most people wanted the old Plough to be retained on site, despite it not being directly related to the former Farm. If the Plough is deemed unsafe, it will either be relocated or repurposed. Should removal be required in future, Council will notify the Community via onsite signage.

Background

Riverbend Historical Park is a key location along Werribee River and provides direct access to the river, with a canoe launch and picnic facilities. The park sits on the traditional lands of the Bunurong, whose ongoing connection to Country continues to shape the cultural and environmental significance of this area.

Council are proposing improvements to Riverbend Historical Park in response to expected increases in park use, and community requests for better facilities.

A rise in visitors and foot traffic at Riverbend Historical Park is anticipated due to:

  • Nearby residential development nearing completion.
  • A potential future pedestrian bridge over the Werribee River (exact location to be determined), which will connect to the future Werribee Township Regional Park.

In addition to this Melbourne Water will be upgrading the canoe launch to a floating pontoon.

What will the park upgrade look like?
