Improving Waste in Wyndham

At Wyndham City Council, providing waste services is a key part of what we do, but managing waste goes far beyond just throwing away things in your bins at home. It’s about all of us coming together to reduce, reuse, and recycle.

When we work together, not only do we help protect our environment, but we also support the local economy and improve the community’s well-being. The more we collaborate and find better ways to manage our waste, the more vibrant and liveable our city will become!

Waste Strategic Actions

All the Waste Services we deliver aim to achieve our Waste Strategic Actions, as listed in the Resilient Wyndham Strategy:

  • 20 per cent reduction in the waste we generate at home by 2030
  • Halve household food waste to landfill by 2030
  • 90 per cent of the waste we generate at home is kept out of landfill
  • Wyndham residents are recycling right by 2030 (with only 5 per cent contamination)

These actions align with the State Government’s requirement that all Councils will need to collect food and garden organics from all households by 2030. This change will help us cut down on the amount of waste going to landfill in a big way.

We always want to do things better so we're looking for your ideas and feedback on how we can improve our waste services. Your feedback will help us work towards our Waste Strategic Actions for the next five years, right up to 2030!
