Have your say

Zoos Victoria has commenced community consultation for the next phase of planning for Werribee Open Range Zoo’s expansion, which will prioritise animal welfare, park facilities, enhance the overall visitor experience and ensure the zoo is a tourism icon in Melbourne’s west.

This is a great opportunity for the community to have their say and we encourage everyone to get involved to help shape this exciting project.

Your feedback will help refine key elements of the Sky Safari and be considered by the Minister for Planning to inform the planning assessment of the project. The Sky Safari is a 1.6km tree-top gondola system that will elevate passengers 30-metres over the Zoo’s open plains for a 40-minute round trip. Small group cabins will have a 360-degree view of the savannah, across to the You Yangs, Melbourne CBD and Port Philip Bay beyond, allowing iconic animals such as Plains zebra, Northern giraffe and Southern white rhino to be seen below.

The Sky Safari also offers an opportunity for visitor interpretation of the wider Werribee Park precinct and Werribee River corridor.

Feedback is welcomed through the online survey at the link below, or through the dedicated email address WZExpansionConsultation@zoo.org.au for those who cannot access the survey.

Feedback is to be received by Friday, 15 October 2021.
