Consultation for this project has now closed and the feedback is being reviewed. View the final Sports Facility User Guide 2020-2025 here.

What's been happening?

We did some preliminary consultation via a survey with community sporting clubs, peak sporting bodies and local schools during July and August this year, in relation to Wyndham City’s Sports Facility User Guide and Sports Facility Capital Development Guide (2015-2020).

We received lots of feedback which we've reviewed and are now ready for further consultation.

The proposed Sports Facility User Guide 2020-2025 is avalaible to view with key amendments to be implemented in early 2020. Highlights of the proposed changes are listed below.

Key proposed amendments

  • Selection Criteria For Seasonal Allocation (Section 2.3)
Updated to include all ‘not for profit’ organisations, not just sport and recreation groups.
  • Pre-Season Allocations (Section 3.5.1)
Updated to include an extended pre-season training window for senior teams only and a provision to charge any un-booked use at the casual use rate.
  • School Use Of Grounds (Section 3.5.3)
Updated to embed a framework which sees schools categorised into three categories and a corresponding fee scale introduced which rewards schools for opening their facilities to the community outside of school hours.
  • Small Business Partnerships (Section 3.9)
Updated to create an exception to the current sub-leasing clause which provides Users with the opportunity to form partnerships with small business providers that provide physical activity opportunities for the community and include them under their seasonal allocation.
  • Commercial Operators (Appendix B)
Updated to reduce casual fees from 400% of the community rate to 150%.
  • Maintenance Responsibilities (Appendix C)
Updated to reflect Council’s obligations under Essential Safety Measures.
