More information
The upgraded playground will feature a blue butterfly theme, inspired by the Common Grass-blue Butterfly (Zizina labradus), a species often seen in our local area (pictured below).
The new design proposes blue and brown colours that reflect the butterfly’s natural markings, butterfly-themed play elements such as a "caterpillar seat”, a "cocoon cubby”, and flower chimes, as well as a garden trail to attract local butterflies. The existing picnic shelter and leaf-shaped seats are proposed to be painted in colours that complement the Common Grass-blue Butterfly.
Farfalla is the Italian word for "butterfly" and the theme complements the names of surrounding streets which reference blue, butterflies, green grasses and flowers, helping create a stronger sense of place and local identity.
