Engagement Overview
How we've included your feedback!

The safety of park users and dogs was raised. The design includes double-gated entries, clear signage, and snake-proof mesh to keep pets and people safe. In response to concerns raised about dogs jumping over fences, the height of the fence has been raised to 1.5m along the road edge.
The potential impacts of dogs on the natural environment was raised. The new dog park will provide a secure space for dogs to run, and reduce the number of dogs being let off leash in Point Cook’s marine sanctuary and other sensitive local sites. Council is consulting with Melbourne Water to minimise any negative impact on nearby waterways.
Some residents asked if other sites were considered. This is the only suitable location within Saltwater Coast for a fenced dog off-leash area. Unfortunately, due to space limitations, it isn’t possible to include a separate small-dog section. While parking concerns were raised as an issue, it is anticipated that most visitors will walk rather than drive.
Shade, seating, mulched areas, dog bag dispensers, and drinking fountains were suggestions that have all been included in the final design. To support waste management and odour control, bins and dog waste bags will be provided. The lawn will be irrigated and regularly maintained. We heard from several community members that the BBQ area was important to them, which will therefore be retained.
To enhance the dog park’s look and feel, more canopy trees and greenery will be included to suit the character of the area. In response to concerns about the visual prominence of fences in a natural setting, low, complementary plantings will be planted in front of the fencing along Edge View Terrace and the picnic shelter area, maintaining the sites natural character.

A new dog park is planned for Point Cook!
As part of the ongoing implementation of the Wyndham Dog Off-Leash Plan (2022), we have been hard at work delivering new off-leash areas across Wyndham.
We've recently opened the new dog parks at Alcock Road Reserve, Truganina and Cambridge Reserve, Hoppers Crossing.
Based on community feedback received during engagement for the Wyndham Dog Off-Leash Plan (2022), this location has been nominated to provide equitable access to off-leash spaces in the Saltwater Coast area.
We've created a Draft Concept Design for the proposed Citybay Drive Dog Off-leash area in Point Cook.
This area will include:
- 1.2M High fences
- Two double gate entries
- Dog bag dispensers and bins
- Seating
- A drink fountain
- Agility equipment
- New trees, landscaping and irrigated lawn areas.
The facility will also include regulatory signage as well as our enclosed dog park etiquette guidelines sign which encourages positive and safe pet ownership.
